The new Contour Whole Field Seed Planning tool is now available, enabling all farmers to experience the benefits of digital seed planning and knowing the precise amount of seed they need to order. Users can now create a single multi-crop plan for the whole farm in an easy process that offers precision, control, and simplicity.

Here’s how:

• Whole Field Seed Planning can be accessed by all users from the Contour Seed Homepage
• Multiple crops can be included in a single plan, enabling one plan to cover the whole farm
• Plan unit can be set to use kg/ha, seeds/m², or seeds/ha to match machinery requirements and user preference
• Base rates for the plan can be set by crop, variety or field, enabling users to factor in variations in plant establishment such as fields that typically underperform

• Observation-based rules enable users to factor in issues and problem areas identified when scouting, such increasing seed rate where blackgrass has been observed
• Selecting an observation will apply the associated polygon area to the seed map, where it can be viewed and edited directly within seed planning for precise control of the area that rules should apply to
• In addition, users can draw new polygons within seed planning and specify rules to be applied to them, perfect for headlands

• Once all rules have been added, users can view total seed required per variety and review the seed map to check rates by field and polygon. Area to be drilled and average rate are also displayed
• Seed rates for each area can be tweaked with flexibility to edit the map and manually adjust rates
• Users can perform bulk adjustments to round total seed required up or down, applying changes to all or specific fields

• Plans can be exported as job sheets, shapefiles, or in GPS format. To avoid wait time, users can navigate away from the plan while GPS files are generating and access later from the seed homepage
