Contour – SFI observations in Contour

Today’s release adds over 100 new observation types to Contour observations under the Category of Sustainable Farming Incentive. You will now find an observation type for each SFI action, labelled with the action code and name.
This enables you to record evidence for SFI actions and store it securely in the Contour platform alongside all of your other SFI scheme data such as IPM plans. With Soil management plans and the Land Use Mapping pieces coming soon, Contour will provide a single repository for all of your data. Experience with SFI inspections has already demonstrated that having all of your data on Contour is an efficient and effective way to demonstrate conformity to the inspector.
Observations can easily be created via the Contour mobile or web, adding locations and photos or other documents as evidence. With full offline functionality for the mobile coming soon, observations will be creatable in areas where no signal is available to be uploaded at a later date, on iOS or Android.
Here’s how:
1. To start adding observations, go to Maps and Analysis on web and select the binocular icon, followed by “Add an observation”.
1a. For mobile, open the app and tap the plus icon on the bottom navigation bar.
2. Drop a pin to set the location of the observation on the map.
2a. If the observation is for an area, draw a polygon.
3. Select the observation type.
4. Add notes and count if required.
5. Take or upload photos and add documents to evidence your SFI action.
6. Click save and your observation can be viewed in the map.
